OpusGames.com Update List

What's New

February 27, 2023 - On my links page, I removed the years-long link to the Dilbert comic strip. Recent racist rants by Scott Adams (the writer of Dilbert) mean that I can no longer in even this slight way of a link support this author any longer.

January 9, 2023 - A very minor update to my Pern fanfic ePub novella (added a table of contents, so I could finally upload it to MrOwl, and use it as an added test doc)...

February 28, 2022 - Added a link to a Robotech: Crystal Dreams YouTube video... a few weeks back "The Uncommon Valley" channel interviewed me, and this video is the result! I also did a little general cleanup of my R:CD page (added transparency to the title images so they look better against non-white browser themes and removed the old broken "Disciples of Zor" webring).

February 8, 2022 - a couple of days ago I added a favicon to my website. This little icon appears in the left corner of any browser tabs, and many device links. Since I build mobile apps (and often use my own website for testing uploading web links), I got tired of the apps I work on warning me on the lack of a favicon.ico file. So I built one!

July 1, 2021 - a tiny update to the Anne McCaffery Dragonriders of Pern page... just updating for the timing... its been more years than was listed (I'm getting old).

March 28, 2021 - a rare (and mostly useless) update of the main page... it still showed me in North Bend, but my wife & I moved back to ABQ more than a year back, before the Covid pandemic, me getting a local Flutter dev job at MrOwl, and a year working from home. So, a tiny, useless update I can track here on this update page!

August 22, 2019 - Movers coming tomorrow to take all our stuff to a storage unit. Also, Added a link to my recent Xbox Live sample code work, now public on Microsoft's github....

August 15, 2019 - Started migrating my code samples to my personal Github account.

March 18, 2018 - Once again I'll soon be job hunting, so I've added the code test that got me my last job at Level 11, a iPhone Tic Tac Toe game, to my code samples page.

June 13, 2017 - Added a link to the Fallout 4 mod my Wonder Wife and I built... if you play Fallout 4 on the PC, give our mod (A Variety of Containers) a try!

April 4, 2017 - been a while! I've added a second Unity project here... its still very preliminary, but it will eventually be BUZZ BALL!

February 12, 2016 - adjusting my resume, this time as my time at INRIX comes to a close.

March 20, 2015 - adjusted my resume for the new job that starts on Monday (at Inrix).

October 13, 2014 - put up on the code samples page a quicky iOS app I built for a coding test, for displaying a public dataset of Seattle landmarks.

October 2, 2014 - I've started playing with the Unity3D Game Engine, and I've put up by progress so far on my games page.

September 19, 2014 - I've been playing around with CSS stylesheets, and decided to have some fun with my main page (as you can see if you got here from there!)

September 16, 2014 - My domain is now hosted by iPage.com (they are less expensive than my old hosting service). Trying to save money since we are now living in Seattle and I am still unemployed! Also, I added a new set of pages with various code samples potential employers can look at....

June 3, 2014 - no big changes... since I'm now unemployed, I added my resume.

Jan. 7, 2013 - long time since an update! My fiancee and I needed a place our friends and family could find info about our wedding, so its now posted here....

Dec. 17, 2011 - I added a dedication to Anne McCaffery to my Pern webpage and the fan-fiction I wrote in her universe, including an update to the eBook version of my little story.

Dec. 9, 2011 - an interview I did about my time at 3DO just got posted at PC World. I added a link to the article on my games page.

Sept. 11, 2011 - added some thoughts about 9/11 on my rants page... my memories of that terrible day ten years ago.

June 21, 2011 - put up a slightly better Java test applet on the Ultramain page.

June 18, 2011 - added a small new page for my new employer, Ultramain. It's rather different work than I've done before, but pretty interesting!

April 21, 2011 - added a link to the Novint page to a YouTube video based on some cool device work I did a few months back... between the Xio arm device, motion trackers, impact vests, and so on, this may be the most immersive gaming setup ever built!

February 27, 2011 - did some adjustments to my game pages... also, just did an inteview about my old Sega days, at the Sega-16 website here

February 2, 2011 - minor updates... discovered I had an image of the last of the old R:CD badges on my toys page, so updated everything (and got rid of some old art).

January 23, 2011 - I got an email request for the intro music to the old Robotech game I worked on years ago... I found a way (using an N64 emulator) to capture it, and decided to also add it to my Robotech page.

January 3, 2011 - recently played around with a virtual LEGO tool, and built a LEGO version of Tikal's Temple 2... I decided to add it to my webpage....

October 1, 2010 - my good friend Jess sent me her finished art for my Dragonriders of Pern story, so I updated the art on my page, as well as my eBook of the story....

September 27, 2010 - we might have an interesting marketing opportunity for the iPhone game I worked on (NovaRift)... I decided to do some updates to my pages for the game (mostly the players manual).

September 20, 2010 - even after 19 years, I still seem to get an email every few months about WOTES (a Sega Genesis game I tested back at the beginning of my career). Just got one tonight, so I decided to add it back on to my main page as a direct link. I also added a link on my WOTES page to a fun video someone posted showing how you can play the entire game in 30 minutes (if you really know what you are doing).

July 26, 2010 - a couple of small updates the the Dork Tower pages yesterday, and today I added my Pern story as an eBook for download (though it will be updated later, once my friend Jess finishes her cover art).

June 29, 2010 - I finally uploaded the source code for my old Tonka Falcon demo, including a description page of the various important code files and so on.

June 1, 2010 - I received an email from someone who was playing Warriors of the Eternal Sun on an emulator, a Sega Genesis game I tested way back at the beginning of my career. From the beginning of my webpage long ago, I've had notes and maps for that game. Based on that email, I went back into the past and made a small update to those WOTES pages (as well as trying out the game myself on an emulator, just to remind me of it).

May 29, 2010 - have more fun with building eBooks, so I built my Robotech: Crystal Dreams fanfic into one as well (which is also now up here).

May 28, 2010 - on a whim, I built the R:CD promotional comic as an eBook, which is now on my iPad (in the iBooks app), and so I added it to my webpage for others. I also did some updates to my Pern story (mostly reformatting it to more traditional book layout).

May 7, 2010 - I moved this list of updates to a seperate page... looking back through them, its strange to discover I first started my webpage back in 1997, though it didn't become "opusgames.com" until 2001. Anyway, the long list of updates over the years is pretty extensive, and I figured it shouldn't be on the main page....

May 6, 2010 - added the executable for my old Tonka demo... my first contract job for Novint back in late 2006.

April 20, 2010 - noticed that Carl Macek, the guy who created Robotech, passed away. I found myself going through my own Robotech page, and ended up doing some updates.

March 26, 2010 - updated my MonsterGila page with more info about our new iPhone game, NovaRift. It should appear on the Apple App Store on April 2nd!

February 18, 2010 - I was re-watching my old Ranma 1/2 DVDs, and noticed one of my anime cels (the long-haired Akane cel). Thus, I updated that cel page to note where it came from :-)

November 7, 2009 - a few tiny edits (noticed some spelling errors, etc.)... nothing exiciting, though hopefully soon there will be some cool updates about the Monster Gila iPhone game!

October 12, 2009 - added a games page for Monster Gila, the tiny iPhone company I'm building a game with....

August 23, 2009 - I actually got an e-mail today about Warriors of the Eternal Sun (a Sega Genesis RPG I tested way back at the beginning of my career in 1991). I decided to make a few minor tweeks to my webpage about the game....

March 10, 2009 - added a little more info about some of the work I did for Novint.

March 9, 2009 - added a patch to the Robotech: Crystal Dreams game ROM that someone sent me, which fixes a crash bug. I also added a page devoted to my work with Khoral and other Shockwave demos, and made a few other smaller changes. I also added my resume.

March 2, 2009 - finally got around to adding a games page devoted to Novint and their very cool computer controller, the Falcon. Has it really been more than four years since I last updated my webpage? Sheesh!

Jan. 29, 2005 - first update of the new year, but don't get too excited. I recently re-read my R:CD story, and made some changes to chapter 4. Now I'm off to cook spagetti sauce.... :)

Oct. 30, 2004 - after months of thinking about it, I finally moved back to Albuquerque, and ended up at a small game company called Khoral. Several small updates to various pages (such as adding the Khoral link to my links page) today.... (happy now Teej?)

June 1, 2004 - a new version of my Dork Tower GBA game, which fixes the enemies seeing through walls bug.

May 30, 2004 - I added some more pictures and info about my Dork Tower GBA game on its game page.

May 29, 2004 - After months of hard work (and the permission of John Kovalic) I finally put up my latest GBA homebrew effort... the first Dork Tower video game ever! You can get to it from either my Dork Tower fan game, or my GBA development page.

Mar. 5, 2004 - I'm Schroeder!

Mar. 2, 2004 - I decided to upload the two hillarious Battletanx TV commercials, starting Treddy Bear. I also added a new note on the status of Jacked to that game's page, and did a few other minor changes here and there. Finally, I put up the silly cinematics from a game I worked on long ago: Wild Woody.

Dec. 3, 2003 - Version 6.0 of my homebrew GBA game "Starshot!" is up, with new and improved missiles, and a new (well, actually, old) weapon!

Dec. 2, 2003 - with the addition of a DSL connection, opusgames.com is now hosted by Speakeasy.net (actually, it happened about a month ago). I've also ended up with a lot more webspace than I had before. Thus, I asked Paul Dostal (www.3dmecha.com) if I could put a local copy of his great R:CD Eboliar video on my Robotech fan page. Now, all 26Mb of it is here at opusgames.com (making it, I think, the largest file on my website). I also revamped the R:CD fan art page while adding the link to it and, I moved a couple of things around on the main Robotech page.

Nov. 27, 2003 - Happy Thanksgiving! Once again, no major changes today... I added a few items to the Robotech and Anime collectables pages (most of which I've had for ages, but just never got around to putting on the web), added a little more text to the Roman Colliseum archaeology page, and fixed a few spelling problems I noticed along the way.

Nov. 24, 2003 - don't get excited... today's update is small. I fixed a couple of problems with the archaeology page (I had mislabeled the Anasazi site of Balcony House as Sun Temple), and updated the links page (getting rid of some broken links and adding one or two new items). I also fixed some formatting and spelling problems on various pages and did some minor updates to the Dork Tower page and this main page. I told you you wouldn't be excited!

Nov. 9, 2003 - despite the long passage of time since my last update, the only thing I'm adding today is a copy of my resum....

June 11, 2003 - I may be jobless, but that doesn't mean that I can't be productive (in this case, on something other than job-hunting). There is a new update to my StarShot! GBA minigame... now with a new game backdrop!

March 23, 2003 - I've been getting very little sleep lately... we are putting the finishing touches on Jacked! Since the game is starting to get some previews, I put up my own little page about it. Now, I head to bed; tomorrow (well, actually, today) may be Sunday, but I'll be heading in to work anyway....

Feb. 8, 2003 - extremly minor update... I noticed some a formatting problem on the starshot page....

Jan. 19, 2003 - I added some new weapons and particle effects to my Starshot GBA game... which I actually completed before Christmas, and includes smoke trail effects. I also uploaded a new version of Blodrunner, which includes a look at some work I was doing on moving platforms, and updated all my GBA pages. I've been avoiding updating my website lately... my ISP got merged into RCN, so I've been waiting until everything got transfered over (and I had the time and energy!)

Oct. 22, 2002 - a new, slightly improved version of Blodrunner, and some changes to the source code for it (it now compiles using the latest version of the GCC compiler).

Oct. 13, 2002 - the source code for my Blodrunner GBA minigame is now up on my GBA page....

Oct. 6, 2002 - added a quicky review of the Robotech: Battlecry video game to my Robotech webpage....

Sept. 24, 2002 - A new GBA mini-game: Blod-Runner! its not much, but it only took me a weekend to put together :)

July 13, 2002 - One more update for Starshot... the one thing that my Game Boy Advance mini-game was missing was sound. So now Star Shot has sound effects!

July 2, 2002 - perhaps the final version of my GBA mini-game is now up... it includes weapon and superbomb powerups, and a bunch of other new features.

May 30, 2002 - Yet another new version of my little GBA mini-game: Starshot! This one adds animating background tile objects, in the form of several rotating space-stations....

May 22, 2002 - I once again removed the old 1998 E3 R:CD videos, so I could make some extra room on my webpage. I then uploaded the version of the GCC compiler I've been using for my GBA mini-game work (all 16 Megs of it) to the GBA webpage.

May 21, 2002 - I uploaded a new version of "Starshot," my little GBA mini-game. The new version now includes 500 asteroids scattered across the background of the game.

May 14, 2002 - Mostly cosmetic changes... I moved my R:CD fanfic to its own subdirectory and added a couple of names to the Dork Tower fan page (DT #17 included Igor's last name!)

April 27, 2002 - I've managed to end up as a character in my favorite comic strip... Dork Tower! Go to the Dork Tower fan page for more. I also uploaded some new Dork Tower info to the fan page... I searched through the Pyramid files and found color versions of some of the pics I had on my fan page, so I upgraded them.

April 13, 2002 - Paul Dostal uploaded a new version of his Crystal Dreams video to his webpage... I grabbed some screenshots for my Robotech fan-art webpage, but you really should go to his website to see the whole thing :] Also, a number of minor changes all over the place.

April 7, 2002 - On a whim, I added a link to Jeremiah, the new JMS series, on my links page.

April 5, 2002 - Added a link to the Gamers.com article about the upcoming Robotech games.

April 2, 2002 - I uploaded several pics from the intro video Paul Dostal created for R:CD... you can find them on the R:CD fan art page....

March 30, 2002 - The interview my friend Lizard and I did at Harmony Gold a few weeks back is up at robotech.com!

Several other things to update... the R:CD comics up for auction finished, there are a couple of new articles out there about the upcoming Robotech video games, and in a wonderful piece of news, Paul Dostal sent me a link to a video he created using his Eboliar model... he build a video mimicing what the intro to R:CD might have looked like!

March 25, 2002 - added a link to the offical "Six Feet Under" website to the links page. The show is a wonderfully interesting television show on HBO.

March 23, 2002 - I put two of my last copies of the R:CD comic up for auction on ebay.com, in honor of the release of the final Robotech DVD box set (which includes footage from the failed N64 game I worked on) and the upcoming interview on Robotech.com. Go to the Robotech news page for more info!

March 16, 2002 - I found Dork Tower #16 at the comic book shop today, and I had to scan an image for my Dork Tower Warhamster page... I also grabbed one other pic from a previous DT comic, and did a little editing.

March 14, 2002 - I picked up my copy of the final Robotech DVD box set, which includes footage from R:CD. In honor of this, I grabbed a couple of "deleted scenes" from the raw footage I captured for Harmony Gold and ADV and added them to my Robotech webpage. Note that this puts my webpage at 146 Mb! Another 4 Megs, and I'll once again need to add more webspace... eek!

February 28, 2002 - made some modifications to my little GBA game, and found out the name of the advertising firm Matt works for in Dork Tower....

February 23, 2002 - changes on the official Dork Tower website finally mentioned the complete names of two of the DT characters (Gilly and Kyleigh)... I added the info the the DT page, a truly minor change if I've ever seen one!

January 6, 2002 - I added a number of pictures of the Anasazi ruins at Chaco Canyon and Mesa Verde a friend and I took last July, as well as breaking the various sections of the Archaeology page into seperate pages. I also finally added an Opus picture header to the archaeology page. In addition I added a number of new image captures from the N64 R:CD game... these have actually been up on my webspace for several months (they were originally captured for use in an interview that never happened), but I finally decided to add a link to them in the R:CD pages.

January 5, 2002 - a bunch of little changes, most just fixes to various problems. A broken link to the Robotech links page on my R:CD page is now fixed, and I uploaded a local copy of the "Robotech Complete" font that my R:CD page uses, since the link to it has disappeared from the web. I also made some minor updates to my book reviews intro page and the micro machine toys page (since they were refering to things that were several years out of date), a couple of modifications to the links page, and fixed some links on my GameBoy page.

September 26, 2001 - I took down the half-mast pictures from the main and rcd pages, moving them to the rants page. I also scanned the various R:CD E3 badges I've picked up, adding them to the robotech collectables page.

September 16, 2001 - another late night update... for a while I've been bugged by the GIF format transparency in some of the link buttons and archaeology thumbnails, so I spent some time fixing them, as well as fixing a few text errors and adding a little to the text on some of the links on the links page. I also created a second version of the flag at half mast graphic, this one with the "Don't Tread On Me" flag (placed on the R:CD page).

September 15, 2001 - 1am, and I finally got around to adding a bit to my Battletanx: Global Assault page. It now has new text, all the cheat codes from the game, and a technical files sub-page about all the tank in both versions of the game.

September 14, 2001 - I created a seperate page for the WarJetz secret game mode, called BombBall, and added some more info about it.

September 9, 2001 - another afternoon of lounging leads to more WarJetz stuff... I've added a technical files page, with all the planes you can fly in the game. I also added a little information about the game I'm working on now... Dragon Rage for the PS2!

September 9, 2001 - updated and added to the links page.

September 8, 2001 - I put the ROM image for R:CD up about 1am this morning, before I went to bed. Since I have the weekend off, however, I decided to work a bit on my WarJetz page... I've re-written the page with a few cheat codes for both the PS1 and PS2 versions of the game, as well as a couple dozen or so screen shots from the PS2 version....

September 8, 2001 - The R:CD ROM image is now up on my Robotech webpage! As a side note, this puts my total webpage to over 132 Megs... in the words of Igor, "Huzzah!"

Sept 7, 2001 - The changes I made to my html pages for the new domain, etc., ended up screwing up a bunch of the pages, so I went through them all by hand and made sure they all are correct. I also added a new R:CD page, with the complete list of game credits, as well as adding the actual voice actor names to the rcd dialog page.

Sept 6, 2001 - I went through all my html files and changes all the local links over to the new domain, as well as removing a couple of the link buttons that are at the bottom of all my pages. August 11, 2001 - I picked up a sequence of Mospeada cels while I was on vacation (in a store in Los Angeles called "Mandrake"). June 21, 2001 - I picked up a new Ranma cel off ebay... this one from the same scene as my favorite Akane cel. Since the new cel also included the backdrop for both cels, I rescanned the older Akane cel, as well as scanning the new one.

June 2, 2001 - with WarJetz PS2 now almost finished, I finally had time to make a few updates. On the R:CD page, I added a fan art page with some 3D renders of Eboliar. I also added the news about THK licensing the rights to Robotech games, and added some minor edits to one of the R:CD story chapters. Finally, I recently figured out which Ranma episode the cel with Akane, Ukyo, and Genma was from.

Nov. 21, 2000 - an observant fellow Robotech fan from Argentina sent me detailed info about my Rook Bartley animation cel, so I had to update her page. Thanks go to Juan Manuel Villa!

Mar. 20, 2000 - a kind soul sent me pictures of most of the E3 character badges, plus some other stuff from the old Gametek website... I added all the pictures to the R:CD pictures page. I also finally fixed the counter here on the main page (I think the old one was around 6000 when it died), and added the latest picture of my god-kids on the misc stuff page. Finally, I saw one of my cels go by while watching an episode of Ranma 1/2, so the Ranma caught between Akane and Shampoo cels is now documented....

Feb. 3, 2000 - added a note about the new Gamefan on-line article about R:CD.

Dec. 2, 1999 - a few text fixes and added notes here and there on the R:CD pages, plus a comment about my upcoming trip to China (since I won't be around to answer e-mails about the Gamefan magazine R:CD articles until I get back).

Nov. 25, 1999 - the best reason for Thanksgiving yet! My friends just got the first picture of their newly adopted daughter, so I added it to the Random Stuff page! Three weeks from now I will be in China with them, when they pick up Abby!

Aug. 19, 1999 - I noticed when I checked my webpage from work that the video only (.mpv extension) files I uploaded yesterday didn't run on my computer at work, so tonight I converted all the .mpv files to standard mpeg, while also compressing them a bit more. This gave me room for a couple more battle videos on the R:CD Screen Captures page. I went ahead and added some JPEG frame captures of some of the videos as well.

Aug. 18, 1999 - added a bunch of videos of all the game ships to the the R:CD tech files page, but i had to remove all the old videos on the screen capture page to make room. I'll soon add three out of about a dozen battle videos (which will max out my web space....)

Feb. 28, 1999 - the only change made today was a fix to the date at the top of the page (which is why it still reads Feb. 14). A nice Robotech fan pointed out that I had put 1998 rather than 1999 up there (oops). I wouldn't have even mentioned it, except that the e-mail came all the way from Greece, which is as far away as I've communicated with anyone yet....

Mar. 15, 1998 - added in a first pass at the R:CD tech files page. Currently, it just includes text about most of the ship types in the game, without any pictures or stats. Once I get permission (which may not happen until the game is released), I will add screen shots of the various ships, and once the game is complete I will drop in each ship's final stats.

Mar. 14, 1998 - replaced the hand-drawn picture of the Azcan Jungle in the WOTES pages with a screen capture from the game. Unfortunately, my capture board will only pick up my Sega Genesis in black and white, so I'll have to replace it later when I get the problem fixed.

Sept 8, 1997 - Added the Kid Chameleon page to the games page.

Sept 5, 1997 - Everything's new! Here is my first try at a web page. I threw it together during a four day weekend, which I took to recharge before the final hour intesive push to the end of the R:CD project. I bought myself a cheap scanner, and built these pages as an excuse to play with it. I guess this proves that I am a nerd, since I spent my weekend away from programming computers by creating these web pages… on a computer.
